About the role
- Serve as a credentialed (PhD, PharmD, DNP, MD) Regional Medical Scientific Director (Medical Science Liaison) supporting the Gastrointestinal (GI) Immunology program
- Scientific Exchange: develop professional relationships and engage with national and regional Scientific Leaders (SLs) to provide company-approved medical and scientific information and conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions
- Address scientific questions from SLs and direct inquiries outside RMSD scope to appropriate company resources
- Maintain current knowledge of the scientific and clinical environment in the Company's Areas of Interest
- Research: initiate discussions with SLs/potential investigators to determine alignment with research strategies, study concepts, scientific merit, and investigator qualifications
- Enhance comprehension of scientific foundations and goals of investigator-sponsored research
- Identify barriers to patient enrollment and retention efforts
- Work with Global Clinical Trial Operations to recommend study sites, identify potential investigators, conduct Site Initiation Visits (SIVs), and perform protocol lead responsibilities in collaboration with GCTO
- Scientific Congress Support: engage in scientific congresses and medical meetings to facilitate scientific and data exchange
- Scientific Insights: gather feedback, data, or information during routine activities to inform company understanding of SL and patient needs and priorities
- Serve as a role model for field medical team members, support onboarding, and share therapeutic expertise
- Cover exemplar territories including Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, District of Columbia, and Mid-Atlantic states
- Expected to travel up to 50% and maintain adherence to company policies and regulatory guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD
- Proven competence and a minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area (gastrointestinal) experience beyond that obtained in the terminal degree program
- Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders
- Dedication to scientific excellence with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills
- A thorough comprehension of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and its customers
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote)
- Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms
- Consistent adherence to field and corporate policies and Global Medical Scientific Affairs (GMSA) strategy, including field standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and administrative/operational responsibilities
- Field-based medical experience (preferred)
- Research Experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated record of scientific/medical publication (preferred)
