About the role
- Serve as lead project manager for the major donor program.
- Manage the life cycle, pipeline, and moves management of major donors from identification, cultivation and stewardship, CRM management, ask, gift acknowledgement, receipt of funds, reporting, and renewals and upgrades.
- Plan and execute strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective, lapsed, and current individual and institutional donors.
- Research potential new donors, as well as possibilities for upgrades from current one-time and recurring donors, and support the outreach process.
- Work with the COO on annual goal-setting. Manage and track progress towards those goals.
- Manage overall donor data tracking using the internal CRM and other systems.
- Ensure the Executive Director maintains correspondence with existing and prospective major donors in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare proposals, write grant reports, and track reporting deadlines.
- Prepare the Executive Director for meetings with donors, manage fundraising schedules, and accompany the Executive Director to donor meetings.
- Lead in the creation of development-related marketing materials and communications.
- Work with the executive team and mid-level donor team to execute donor-facing virtual events.
- Work with the Executive Assistant and executive team to ensure Executive Director travel strategy includes major donors.
- Manage, with the Executive Director, Board engagement in development activities.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience working in non-profit or political fundraising departments.
- Ability to grasp and communicate complex campaigns, ideas, and goals of our work in clear, accessible, and compelling ways.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Demonstrates a very high level of organization; a strong ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple deadlines.
- A clear understanding of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC/Super PAC legal issues, structures, and unique fundraising needs for each entity.
- Demonstrated success in strategic thinking, planning, implementation, and problem-solving.
- A high degree of flexibility, dedicated work ethic, and the ability to manage in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can change when news breaks.
- Fluency in Excel and Google Sheets; experience working with a fundraising or CRM database.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of MoveOn: experience with and a deep commitment to applying anti-oppression frameworks, especially regarding racial, gender, and economic injustice.
