About the role
- Support the team on import/export regulations, customs laws, sanctions, and tariff developments across priority markets (US, Mexico, UK, EU).
- Guide product classification (HTS codes), ECCN, and country-of-origin determinations for customs, ensuring compliant filings and duty optimization under manager guidance.
- Collaborate with brokers, freight forwarders, and legal counsel to facilitate accurate declarations, clearance, escalating complex trade issues when needed.
- Work cross-functionally with the supply-chain and engineering teams to ensure compliance with trade and customs matters.
- Monitor regulatory updates and advise the team on changes affecting the business as directed.
- Help coordinate documentation required for end-to-end movement of hardware and components, (shipping, warehousing, and distribution).
- Assist in supplier assessments with a focus on environmental practices, responsible sourcing, and reduction of carbon footprint, waste, and packaging.
- Work with cross-functional teams to advance ESG commitments—GHG reduction, sustainability reporting, and responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Prepare, review, maintain, and audit trade and sustainability documents (e.g., commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, supplier ESG certifications) under manager oversight.
- Own accurate management of compliance and sustainability data in ERP/legal systems (NetSuite, Coupa), flag discrepancies, and coordinate fixes with the team.
- Respond to internal requests for information related to compliance or sustainability documentation, escalating matters that require complex problem-solving or risk assessment.
- Act as a liaison between Legal, Engineering, Logistics, and ESG stakeholders, driving updates for supply chain compliance and product launches.
- Suggest improvements to standard operating procedures around sourcing, vendor management, compliance testing, and documentation.
- Assist in preparing materials for training and best practices to internal and external partners related to trade regulations, sustainability, and responsible supply chain operations.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience in trade compliance, customs, logistics, or supply chain management; expertise in hardware, regulatory environments, or sustainability/ESG programs preferred.
- Understanding of global trade regulations (customs, Incoterms, sanctions), and familiarity with international sustainability standards (ISO 14001, GHG Protocol, social responsibility assessments).
- Hands-on experience with compliance documentation, ERP systems (NetSuite/Coupa), and driving process improvements.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to balance commercial, regulatory, and sustainability objectives in a dynamic, matrixed business.
- Knowledge of supply chain sustainability trends (Scope 3 emissions, product lifecycle, eco-friendly logistics) and demonstrated track record of launching or improving responsible supply chain practices is highly desirable.
