Product Manager

• MotherDuck: building a cloud-hosted version of DuckDB to unify local development with cloud operations for analytics.
• Build Core Platform features for scale, observability, and control to manage a fleet of workloads on MotherDuck.
• Deeply understand the needs, pain points, and behaviors of data warehousing customers and translate them into clear product direction.
• Partner closely with Engineering and Go-to-Market teams to refine and ship quality features quickly that solve high-priority problems.
• Proactively drive the product development lifecycle from ideation through launch to continuous improvement.
• Own market research as a subject matter expert to uncover insights and identify new features and architectural opportunities.
• Craft and communicate a compelling product roadmap, balancing existing customers and prospects to improve product adoption.
• Use quantitative and qualitative data to inform hypotheses, experiments, and product tradeoffs while delivering elegant solutions for customers.
• Hybrid role based out of Seattle, New York City, or San Francisco with a three-days-per-week in-office expectation.

Controller

• What you will do: At MotherDuck, we’re building the future of cloud-based data analytics with DuckDB at the core. We’re a team that values agency, thoughtfulness, flexibility, and a healthy dose of unorthodoxy. As we grow, we’re looking for a Controller who shares these values and can help us scale responsibly... without losing our scrappy, unorthodox spirit.
• As our Controller, you won’t just be keeping the books balanced; you’ll be building the financial foundation that supports our growth and culture. This is a role where you’ll have real ownership, the freedom to challenge conventions, and the responsibility to create systems that balance structure with adaptability.
• This is a hybrid role that can be based in our Seattle, San Francisco or New York City offices.
• Key Responsibilities:
- Exercise agency: Own all aspects of accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and expense management, designing processes that fit our unique needs.
- Embrace unorthodoxy: Find creative ways to scale finance operations without defaulting to the way it’s always been done.
- Practice thoughtfulness: Deliver accurate, timely reporting for leadership, the board, and investors, turning financials into clear insights that drive good decisions.
- Stay flexible: Build systems and controls that work for today while anticipating the growth and complexity of tomorrow.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax partners, and external accountants.
- Implement and optimize financial systems and tools to enable efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and tax requirements across geographies.
• What you bring: 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or equivalent leadership role.

Business Development Rep

• Identify & Qualify Opportunities: Listen actively, ask great questions, and determine if a prospect is a strong fit for MotherDuck’s solutions.
• Pipeline Building: Develop and maintain a pipeline of high-quality leads to support our Account Executives.
• Product Education: Learn and articulate MotherDuck’s value proposition to prospective customers in a way that resonates with their pain points.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to refine messaging and improve outreach effectiveness.
• Communicate with Clarity: Explain technical concepts in a way that’s easy to understand, ensuring potential customers grasp the value of MotherDuck.
• Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback from prospects to help improve our messaging and go-to-market approach.
• Adapt & Problem-Solve: Tailor your approach based on different industries, customer pain points, and personalities.
• Own the Process: Maintain accurate records in our CRM, follow up with prospects, and continually refine your outreach strategies.
• Outbound Prospecting: Conduct targeted outreach via email, phone, and social channels to generate interest and set meetings with potential customers.
• Stay Curious & Keep Learning: Develop a deep understanding of data analytics, industry trends, and the challenges our customers face.
