About the role

  • The IT Global Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering savings and benefits for our organization.
  • Support and execute a multi‑year ecosystem supplier strategy aligned with business unit objectives and partner requirements, including supplier capacity and capability planning.
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with IT hardware and software suppliers, evaluating current technologies and emerging innovations.
  • Lead category management and strategic IT sourcing initiatives, including supplier evaluations with cross‑functional teams covering technical fit, service capability, manufacturing capacity, risk, quality, cost competitiveness, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between strategic suppliers, IT teams, and management to support integration of supplier products and services into Mitsubishi Power’s IT infrastructure.
  • Analyze sourcing and supplier data, including market research, spend analysis, supplier performance, and stakeholder feedback, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; communicate insights through dashboards and presentations.
  • Drive cost‑reduction and standardization initiatives, implementing cost‑out ideas and total cost of ownership improvements.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts and agreements, balancing supplier relationships with achievement of optimal commercial terms, risk mitigation, and long‑term value creation.
  • Identify and qualify vendors for highly technical commodities, ensuring alignment with price, quality, delivery, availability, and capacity requirements.
  • Develop procurement strategies based on long‑range forecasts, contract validity, and supply market conditions.
  • Create value through supplier development and excellence initiatives, including sourcing strategies such as sole sourcing, e‑sourcing events, auctions, cross‑commodity and cross‑business‑unit bundling, and increased competition.
  • Collaborate effectively across internal and external stakeholders, working with other category managers, buyers, procurement teams, and suppliers to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and manage category performance, setting clear objectives, tracking results, motivating stakeholders and suppliers, and promoting procurement excellence, accountability, and integrity.
  • Present category strategies and performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Perform supply chain risk analysis and develop mitigation plans to support continuity and supply chain goals.
  • Represent Mitsubishi Power in supplier negotiations and contribute to policy formulation.
  • Maintain supplier KPIs, monitor supplier production capacity, and establish buyer capacity plans.
  • Partner with Buyers and the broader Supply Chain team to resolve conflicts and execution issues.
  • Develop, evaluate, and refine complex commercial and technical bids, including drafting and issuing RFQs/RFPs, analyzing responses, and supporting award recommendations.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, contracts, and bid proposals, ensuring alignment with buyers and all stakeholders.
  • Establish and manage blanket purchase agreements, including contract duration and dollar limitations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university (MBA Preferred)
  • Two (2) years of IT supply chain experience; or, five (5) years of supply chain experience with specialty in Commodities management; OR, Any equivalent combination.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel 10%.
