About the role

  • Evaluate Material Center effectiveness in meeting delivery, accuracy, and throughput goals; take corrective action to resolve performance gaps.
  • Manage all Material Center functions including subassembly, leak test, material transactions, and delivery of components to meet Production Schedule requirements and maximize labor and material efficiency.
  • Lead daily activities of Material Center personnel with emphasis on positive employee relations.
  • Recommend improvements to inventory methods, procedures, and accuracy initiatives to enhance productivity.
  • Oversee location audits, cycle counts, FTZ operations, and annual physical inventories.
  • Enforce safety procedures, conduct accident investigations, and integrate environmental, safety, and quality practices into daily operations.
  • Provide training on product, process, safety, quality, and environmental guidelines for new hires.
  • Ensure procedures are prepared, updated, and followed for all Material Center operations.
  • Manage supply levels for tools, safety materials, packaging, cleaning supplies, and other shop necessities.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness.
  • Conduct performance reviews with emphasis on attendance, quality, productivity, teamwork, and adherence to policies.
  • Operate in accordance with shop wage programs, including testing and qualification of employees.
  • Assist in preparing weekly/monthly reports, departmental budgets, staffing plans, and capital budget proposals.
  • Facilitate and implement lean practices to improve flow, eliminate waste, and increase productivity.
  • Initiate and manage projects focused on improving inventory accuracy, quality, productivity, and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in a management role
  • Strong logical and critical-thinking abilities with quantitative analysis skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with emphasis on coaching, leadership, and positive employee relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of computer systems, including MS Office
  • Strong proficiency with relational databases and MRP/ERP systems
