About the role
- Lead and manage customs and excise governance of the Area
- Supervise customs and excise risks and disputes
- Evaluate related financial reporting and provide strategic advice
- Ensure compliance with customs and excise laws and regulations
- Conduct internal review and audit of local departments
- Manage and report risks in the region
- Chair bi-annual Area Indirect Tax committees
- Drive continuous improvement regarding customs and excise management processes
Requirements
- Excellent leadership and team member management capabilities
- Knowledge of effective management of third-party partners in service delivery (e.g. customs clearing agents, logistics partners)
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with tax authorities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and keep to tight deadlines
- Assertiveness and drive
- Excellent project- and time-management skills
- Degree-educated with professional accountancy/legal and/or tax qualifications
- Minimum of seven years’ tax experience in ‘big 4’ or equivalent multinational organizations
- Excellent customs and excise technical and accounting knowledge
- Experience of international tax issues and cross-border transactions
- Experience dealing with tax authorities and managing tax audits
