Own the end-to-end monthly close process to produce accurate financial statements, including the income statement and balance sheet, within a strict 5-business-day deadline.
Review and approve all Accounts Payable (A/P) invoices, payroll runs, outgoing cash transactions, and General Ledger (G/L) entries.
Review and approve all monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Actively monitor the company's cash flow and be accountable for the comprehensive accuracy of 13-week cash projections.
Ensure project-specific financial duties are understood and lead the team in industry best practices for project control.
Serve as the primary point of contact and manage all financial audits, including annual financial, 401(k), workers' compensation, sales and use tax, and DCAA audits.
Ensure adherence to legal and financial reporting standards, including ASC 606 and ASC 842.
Establish and enforce internal controls and policies, including ensuring employee travel and expense reports comply with company policy and government regulations.
Lead coordination of annual tax return preparation with CPA firm and understand R&D tax credits.
Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, set performance expectations, and address performance gaps.
Lead process improvement and automation efforts to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
Serve as primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including auditors, government representatives (including DCAA), and bank contacts.
Requirements
7+ years progressive experience in a DoD government contracting environment
2+ years experience with CPFF contracts
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
Licensed CPA or CGMA designation
Solid technical accounting skills and understanding of federal and state regulations, government contracting/DCAA requirements, and US GAAP
Highly self-motivated leader who takes full ownership and empowers and enables their team

Strong problem solving, analysis, and decision-making skills

Previous experience with a small business that has rapidly scaled (DESIRED)
Familiarity with Unanet (DESIRED)
Familiarity with R&D contracting, SBIRs, and OTAs (DESIRED)
