About the role

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students and their families regarding financial aid inquiries, applications, and eligibility requirements.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information on available financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, and loans.
  • Assist students in completing and submitting financial aid applications, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct individual financial aid counseling sessions to help students understand their financial aid package, budgeting, and repayment options.
  • Evaluate financial aid applications, review supporting documents, and determine eligibility for various types of financial assistance.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as admissions and academic advising, to ensure seamless student support and services.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proactively identify and communicate scholarship opportunities and external funding resources to students.
  • Assist in developing and delivering financial aid information sessions and workshops for students and families.
  • Maintain accurate student financial aid records and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, promptly addressing student concerns and resolving financial aid-related issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a financial aid office or a related position is required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, regulations, and policies.
  • Familiarity with student financial aid management systems and software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to students and families.
  • Empathy and compassion in assisting students from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing financial aid applications and documents.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and supporting student success.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to assess complex financial situations and provide informed recommendations.
