About the role

  • Sells previously owned or leased vehicles to retail and commercial customers.
  • Greets and assists customers in selecting vehicle that meets their needs and financial ability.
  • Presents the vehicle’s features and benefits to Customers.
  • Arranges and prepares vehicle for test drive.
  • Gathers information needed to structure the vehicle purchase deal and informs sales management of the qualifying information.
  • If there is a “trade-in” vehicle, performs a pre-evaluation of the customer’s vehicle to determine approximate value.
  • Writes up and presents a written proposal and completes all other necessary documents.
  • Introduces customer to Finance & Insurance (F&I) Manager to arrange financing and finalize the necessary paperwork.
  • Reviews vehicle checklist, transaction documents, warranty, and customer survey program prior to the customer leaving the store.
  • Conducts vehicle delivery, reviewing vehicle features and accessories.
  • Introduces customer to service and parts departments.
  • Provides assistance to customer in the resolution of any post-purchase concerns or problems.
  • Maintains customer contact records in sales software and performs regular follow-up activities.
  • Sources new customers through “cold calling,” use of mailing lists, directories, etc.
  • Maintains company provided demonstrator in a sale-ready condition.
  • Recording sales activities in sales software

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preference for one or more years of vehicle sales experience
  • Experience with knowledge of a variety of vehicles features and benefits preferred or ability to acquire the knowledge
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Interact effectively with a variety of people and personalities.
  • Valid driver license and good driving record
