About the role
- Assist with transcription cleanup and formatting of interview transcripts for clarity and consistency
- Translate interview excerpts from Turkish or German into English, ensuring accuracy and cultural nuance
- Follow the project Data Management Plan: secure data handling, file naming conventions, version control
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with IRB-approved protocols for human subjects research
- Work under supervision: Turkish-language work supervised by Dr. Sebnem Gumuscu; German-language work supervised by Dr. Natalie Chwalisz
- Part-time, flexible schedule; remote work possible depending on project needs
- Contribute to a collaborative research project on voting behavior of the Turkish-German diaspora
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to ethical research practices
- Proficiency in Turkish and/or German
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Completion of human subjects’ research training (e.g., CITI Program) — preferred
- Experience with transcription and/or translation, preferably in a research context — preferred
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods — preferred
- Experience using Dropbox, Google Drive, and NVivo (or willingness to learn) — preferred
- Student employment eligibility and visa/work-authorization restrictions apply (international students may need US work authorization)
- Students are not eligible to work remotely from international locations
- Hour limitations: student employees limited to 20 hours/week during academic year
