About the role
- Responsible for guiding actuarial and financial analytics, assumptions, and modeling to support Navitus strategic objectives
- Direct the development, implementation, and monitoring of pricing models and strategies, financial forecasts, trend analytics, and risk modeling for all lines of business including Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, Self-Funded, EGWP, and Exchange products
- Work collaboratively with executive leadership, underwriting, clinical, and operations teams to ensure competitive, financially sound products
- Manage and mentor a team of actuaries and analysts, fostering professional growth and delivering high quality actuarial work
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients utilizing Navitus actuarial services for pharmacy benefits cost forecasting and management
- Participate in new business development as the lead subject matter expert for actuarial services
- Provide oversight, guidance, and models for actuarial analysis for alternative plan designs and population changes
- Support Finance projections of long-term revenues and profitability by line of business and client
- Understand drug trends, new drug pipelines, and patent expirations to guide trend estimates
- Establish actuarial policies and standards ensuring controls and compliance with statutory, regulatory, professional, and corporate standards
- Participate in and support compliance and diversity, equity, and inclusion program objectives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field required
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries required
- Fellowship preferred
- 7+ years of progressive actuarial experience (preferably in Health Insurance, pharmacy benefits management, or comparable capacity) required
- Experience in more than 2 functions (pricing, reserving, modeling, reporting and analysis) required
- Experience across multiple product offerings including Medicare, Medicaid, Commercially Insured, and Administrative Service only products required
- 5 years of leadership experience managing people and work product for an actuarial team required
- Experience in influencing leaders at a variety of levels and build consensus required
- Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
- The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
