About the role
- Assist Microbac leadership in gaining efficiencies within the laboratory and reducing TAT (Turn Around Time) in sample analysis and reporting.
- Supervise the Department leads (Client Services, Food Department Manager, Environmental Department Manager).
- Follow established SOPs and adhere to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements to support the analytical testing needs of clients.
- Oversee facility maintenance: scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance appointments for the facility and various lab equipment.
- Assist wherever needed: food lab, environmental lab, client services.
- Field questions, emails, and calls from clients including walk-in clients.
- Accurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of data.
- Maintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review.
- Monitor and address sample backlog issues.
- Perform data review in the LIMS (Laboratory Information System).
- Comply with and promote the Microbac Quality and Safety programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in the chemical, environmental, biological or engineering field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a testing lab.
- Basic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work with laboratory equipment and diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation issues when they arise.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Knowledge of environmental methodologies.
