About the role
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and designers on building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, life safety, and emergency power systems.
- Prepare and review scopes of work, fee proposals, and cost estimates for building and MEP projects.
- Manage staff utilization by assigning, scheduling, and adjusting workloads to meet project and business needs.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, applicable codes (NEC, local AHJ requirements), and established deadlines.
- Oversee and contribute to the design, analysis, and review of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and code updates relevant to building electrical and MEP systems.
- May develop, manage, and monitor departmental or project budgets.
- Maintain strong client relationships and support client satisfaction through responsive communication and technical excellence.
- Mentor and develop staff through performance feedback, coaching, and support for professional growth and licensure.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on performance management, staffing needs, and succession planning as needed.
- Support departmental business development efforts, including client pursuits and proposal development.
- Participate in internal and external professional development activities, industry organizations, and technical training.
- Perform detailed engineering analyses, calculations, and technical reviews as required to support project delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering for building and MEP systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Power distribution and service entrance design
- Emergency and standby power systems
- Lighting and lighting controls
- Grounding and bonding
- Arc flash studies and coordination
- Generators and UPS systems
- Lightning protection systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Strong understanding of electrical building codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, local codes, and AHJ requirements).
- Experience coordinating with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other MEP disciplines.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
