About the role
- Support and resolve of the most difficult or advanced network problems using expert level troubleshooting and analysis methods.
- Produce and peer review MOPS for complex changes on the network.
- Perform proactive monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution of complex problems.
- Provide training, assistance, and support for the NOC.
- Performs customer advocate duties while maintaining a positive and professional manner, especially during high stress situations.
- Works in conjunction with internal technicians and external service providers/engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Contribute toward departmental and company goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience in Network Operations, Engineering, or Field Service within the telecommunications industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in at least one SME focus area: IP & Routing, Voice, or Video, with strong knowledge of Ethernet and IP protocols.
- Hands-on experience with EMS, NMS, ticketing systems, and network management tools.
- Solid understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP protocols, routing, and switching.
- Required experience with Nokia, Adtran, and Calix OLTs; Cisco and Juniper equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with Nokia Altiplano, Nokia AMS, Adtran AOE/Mosaic, and Calix CMS platforms.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work on-call, maintenance windows, and rotating shifts as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills for customer and vendor interactions.
