About the role
- Championing the user
- Planning and conducting user research, developing recruitment briefs, analysis and presentation of findings
- Collaborating with the product team to turn research findings into prototypes and features that meet the user need
- Presenting research findings, user insight and recommendations to the product team
- Promoting user centered design principles and best practice within government
- Designing, scripting and analysing quantitative surveys
- Undertaking qualitative/quantitative research projects such as proposition development, visual identity and customer experience mapping
- Applying relevant knowledge in human factors, ethnography, and the user-centered design process to product and service design
- Managing day-to-day operations with usability and market research agencies with accountability for schedules, value for money and deliverables
Requirements
- Knowledge, experience and passion for user centered design practices and GDS guidelines
- Experience undertaking user research and gathering user requirements
- Experience working in agile multidisciplinary teams, including designers and developers to build digital products and services
- Confidence developing user personas and journey maps
- Working in an agile environment
- Advocating for fully accessible and inclusive services
- Taking a proactive approach to addressing environmental issues, embedding environmental responsibility in practices and standards, and encouraging clients to consider innovative solutions within the scope of work
- Taking a proactive approach to diversity, equity and inclusion internally and with clients
