About the role
- Serve as a technical leader and expert in designing, developing, and integrating complex electrical systems for Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions products
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of mixed-signal electrical systems and circuits for medical devices, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 60601)
- Develop detailed specifications, schematics, and PCB layouts, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to meet design and performance requirements
- Ensure reliability: develop technical specifications for design and production, and test hardware conformance to specifications; may include designing new or modifying existing products
- Contribute to technical project planning: establish timelines, define deliverables, and proactively identify and mitigate potential risks
- Work cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, software development, quality assurance, and manufacturing to drive projects from concept through commercialization, with a focus on technology development
- Mentor team members and provide technical guidance
- Use lab equipment for system integration, debugging, and testing; participate in design verification and validation activities
- Support commercialization activities and ensure regulatory and safety compliance for medical devices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience
- Experience with all phases of mixed-signal board design including architecture, circuit design, schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and design verification
- Strong electrical signals and systems fundamentals including frequency domain representations and circuit analysis
- Experience with OrCAD schematic capture and PCB layout tools
- Hands-on experience using lab test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic and network analyzers) for system integration, debugging and testing
- Experience designing, testing, and implementing high-voltage systems (~5 kV)
- Experience in designing and testing medical equipment within a regulated industry and familiarity with 60601-1 safety standard
- Ability to work in an agile development environment
- Interest in gaining an understanding of cardiac electrophysiology
- Interest in new technologies, coupled with the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and techniques as needed
- Focus on accuracy and precision in technical tasks
- Ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, software development, quality assurance, and manufacturing
- Minimum on-site presence: working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite
