About the role
- Develop, improve, verify, integrate and maintain custom airborne and ground electronics-based systems for HAPS UAVs
- Design and implement solutions for a novel UAV system operating near physics limits
- Build verification and testing systems and simulators, including HITL and SITL systems
- Build power, communication and control systems for the platform
- Discover and interpret airworthiness requirements
- Lead cross-disciplinary projects to achieve desired outcomes
- Understand operational needs and develop solutions to improve operations
- Occasionally participate in flight test campaigns and perform in-flight data analysis
- Work as part of a growing team on a UAV project with significant impact
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Development of complex power electronics, communications or control systems - at very high efficiencies
- Experience with high-reliability electronics design for harsh environments
- Experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, or equivalent)
- Experience with hands-on integration and testing of electronics
- Expertise in developing embedded software and embedded communication protocols (preferred)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics, or similar (preferred)
- Familiarity with industry standards for electronics design and testing (preferred)
- Simulation development skills for electronic systems (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) (preferred)
- Experience with smart systems networked as cloud-linked fleets with telemetry (preferred)
- Passion for solving complex problems, proactive can-do attitude, and love for aerospace (preferred)
- Employment subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)
