Interns do real work within experienced engineering teams to improve the lives of millions
Manufacturing Engineer tasks: design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling; design arrangement of machines within plant facilities for efficient, productive layout
Process Engineer tasks: provide technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area; recommend and implement equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies and yields for existing products
Full-time (40 hours/week) paid summer internship lasting 10-11 weeks with housing assistance and relocation/transportation stipend for eligible interns
In-person exchanges are required and interns work a minimum of 4 days a week onsite to foster professional growth and cross-functional collaboration
Positions based at primary hubs in Minnesota, California, Colorado, and the Northeastern U.S., with opportunities in other states (Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in technical projects, perform data analysis, and support manufacturing/process improvements
Requirements
Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering major with an anticipated graduation date of Winter 2026, Spring 2027, Winter 2027 or Spring 2028
Ability to participate full time (40 hours/week) as part of intern cohort from June 1 - August 14 (semester system) or June 15 – August 21 (quarter system)
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis and do not require sponsorship now or in the future for an employment visa
All interns must reside in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
Medtronic Summer Internship Program does not provide work authorization sponsorship; individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1, H-1, H-2, L, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship now or in the future, are not eligible
Willingness to work a minimum of 4 days a week onsite
Minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA (nice to have)
Flexibility in geographic location (nice to have)
Knowledge of one or more technologies: C/C++, C#, SQL, Python, Minitab, MATLAB, CAD: SolidWorks/Autocad or equivalent (nice to have)
Prior work on projects in a team environment (nice to have)
Relevant academic project, internship, or lab experience (nice to have)
Technical writing skills (nice to have)
Experience with statistics and data analysis or Digital IC Design Theory (nice to have)
Strong written and verbal communication skills; self-motivated and a self-starter
Ability to meet physical job requirements for office/manufacturing roles (mobility, computer interaction, communication)
