About the role
- Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
- Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
- Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
- Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions; may incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
- Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
- Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
- Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects; may act as a mentor and coach to colleagues and delegate work to lower level specialists.
- Represents organization as primary contact for projects; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels.
- Works in-person with a minimum of 4 days per week onsite to foster cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelors degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on problem solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated LEAN or Six-Sigma fundamentals in a manufacturing or similar setting
- Experience with electro-mechanical test system troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation
- Cross-functional interaction with multiple groups; interface with Technician, Supervisor, and Management roles
- Plan, direct, and actively participate on concurrent projects
- Equipment qualification/validation
- Knowledge and application of statistical process control
- Ability to design manufacturing processes, production layouts, and sequence of operations
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
- Medical device experience (nice to have)
- Must be able to work a minimum of 4 days a week onsite
