About the role

  • Implement Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, and systems that comply with Federal, State of New Jersey, local regulations, and Medtronic policies and goals
  • Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and EHS excellence empowering employees at every level
  • Lead, manage and develop one direct EHS report and work closely with cross-functional teams
  • Drive long-term actions with Site Leadership Team to reduce site risks and leverage higher mitigation controls
  • Lead initiatives executing Kaizen events and process improvements with Operations teams
  • Analyze safety metrics, trends, and allocate resources to highest safety risks ensuring timely corrective actions
  • Develop and deliver employee training and awareness programs to promote EHS ownership
  • Partner with Medtronic’s global EHS network to implement best practices at the Eatontown, NJ location
  • Evaluate and respond to proposed regulations, collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and corrective action plans
  • Continuously review and refine EHS tools and processes for ongoing improvement and impact
  • Develop and deliver presentations appropriate for different audiences (front line employees, Site Mgmt., Sr. Level executives)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Sciences, Environmental Sciences or equivalent and 5 years of relevant experience OR advanced degree in Safety Sciences, Environmental Sciences or equivalent with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in a Controlled Environmental Area (CEA) manufacturing operations environment
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Associate in Risk Management (ARM); Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • Experience with people leadership (3-5yrs)
  • Knowledge of Environmental Sustainability
  • Knowledge of clean room environments specifically ISO Class 5,7&8
  • Experience with establishing environmental permits and assisting in regulatory audits
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs and delivering executive level business presentations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
