About the role
- Analyze and interpret healthcare datasets provided by external partners (e.g., hospitals, physician groups, third-party vendors)
- Compare incoming data formats against internal data specifications and identify transformation or normalization requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain custom data parsers and transformation scripts using languages such as C#, Python, AWK, and C++
- Collaborate with implementation teams, data engineers, and revenue cycle stakeholders to establish reliable, secure data feeds
- Perform thorough data quality checks and validation to ensure integrity, completeness, and alignment with business rules
- Create detailed documentation for parser logic, data mappings, and integration processes
- Participate in meetings with external partners to understand data delivery formats, schedules, and expectations
- Work on cross-functional projects to support data integration and transformation initiatives in line with RCM requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation and process optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies, parsing errors, and integration issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field
- 3+ years of professional experience in a data analysis, data integration, or software development role
- Experience working with healthcare datasets such as patient demographics, schedules, charges, medical records, claims, eligibility
- Familiarity with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) systems, workflows, or applications
- Experience in building custom parsers and data transformation tools across diverse systems and file formats (e.g., flat files, HL7, CSV, JSON, XML)
- Proficiency in C#, Python, AWK, or C++ for developing parsers and handling data transformation
- Familiarity with scripting, regular expressions, and data formatting concepts
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments
- Solid understanding of U.S. healthcare data standards and terminology (e.g., CPT, ICD-10, HL7, EDI 837/835)
- Strong data profiling and validation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
