About the role

  • Apply advanced technical expertise in pharmaceutical compounding to generate innovative and proprietary compounding services, formulations, and solutions.
  • Lead R&D innovation efforts specific to sterile and non-sterile compounding, including formulation development, process optimization, and service enhancement.
  • Continuously monitor compounding market trends, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies to identify new service and product opportunities.
  • Support expansion into new compounding markets
  • Collaborate with Marketing to support the commercialization and promotion of compounding services and related products, contributing to revenue growth.
  • Provide scientific and technical support to Sales and International teams by addressing customer inquiries related to compounding bases, APIs, excipients, equipment, packaging, devices, and workflows.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in compounding regulations and best practices
  • Support and participate in compounding education and training programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, serving as a facilitator or technical expert as required.
  • Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compounding services and innovations meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop R&D and technical teams dedicated to compounding services.
  • Provide technical input and support during audits, inspections, customer meetings, and industry conferences.
  • Apply sound judgment, ethical practices, and risk-based decision-making in all scientific and business activities.
  • Leverage data analytics and emerging artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance formulation development, process optimization, knowledge management, and decision-making within sterile and non-sterile compounding operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field required; a Master’s or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical compounding or compounding-related R&D
  • Minimum of 3–5 years experience in a leadership or people-management role is required
  • Demonstrated expertise in sterile and/or non-sterile compounding practices
  • Strong knowledge of USP, NAPRA, FDA, DEA, Health Canada, TGA, and State/Provincial Board requirements related to compounding
  • Experience working within 503A / 503B compounding environments, including regulatory compliance, quality systems, and inspection readiness
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor technical staff, and drive innovative initiatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong customer focus with excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • High ethical standards with sound judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
