About the role
- Maintain and optimize core IT infrastructure, servers, applications, end-user devices, and operating systems
- Perform routine server administration (user/group management, group policies, print services)
- Monitor system health, respond to event log warnings/errors, and ensure performance stability
- Lead and contribute to IT projects; deploy new software/hardware and support data center initiatives
- Provide Tier II/III technical support and assist the help desk with root cause troubleshooting
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to share project status and support IT initiatives
- Maintain networking and infrastructure (servers, routers, switches, firewalls, LANs/WANs) and oversee internet/intranet components
- Conduct system audits, review backup processes, ensure data integrity, and maintain filing systems/confidentiality
- Report to the Vice President of IT and support operational efficiency, system security, and scalability
- Travel throughout the company's service area with occasional overnight stays (avg. 50%)
Requirements
- Must live in or around Fargo, ND
- Flexible and able to travel throughout the company’s service area with short notice; occasional overnight stays averaging 50% of schedule
- Proven success in an IT role with strong hands-on technical experience
- Deep knowledge of Windows and Unix systems administration
- Active Directory and group policies
- Enterprise backup and recovery tools
- System monitoring tools and performance tuning
- Networking protocols and infrastructure
- Familiarity with cloud environments, especially Microsoft Azure
- Experience in project management and application integration
- Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred
- Professional certifications in relevant IT disciplines a plus
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50+ pounds occasionally
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, and use hands to operate office equipment
- May be exposed to chemical vapors; PPE provided
- No exposure to bloodborne pathogens in this role
