About the role
- Directly manage authorization requests for Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy services.
- Enter authorizations into our EMR (CentralReach)
- Work cohesively with clinicians & Family Success team members to ensure approvals are processed in a timely manner during onboarding and re-authorization periods.
- Effectively communicate benefit and authorization information between clinicians and the Family Success department.
- Ensure that department metrics are updated daily/weekly with upcoming authorization expirations and treatment report submissions.
- Oversee eligibility reports.
- Accurately identify and correct problems related to eligibility and authorizations.
- Provides concierge-level customer service while interacting with insurance company representatives.
- Oversee and perform various clerical and administrative tasks related to authorizations and associated issues that require initiative and independent judgment.
- Respond to day-to-day operational requirements in a professional and timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of remote administrative or clerical experience in a medical or behavioral health setting.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with insurance verification of benefits and prior authorization processes.
- Prior experience supporting one or more of the following outpatient therapy disciplines: Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and/or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Experience using CentralReach for insurance authorizations or a comparable authorization management system.
- Strong technical proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email); experience with Monday.com is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, including maintaining a HIPAA-compliant workspace with minimal distractions and reliable home internet.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage hourly responsibilities within assigned working hours.
- Team-oriented mindset, working closely with the Family Success Team, Clinicians, and Authorization Coordinators.
- Located in San Diego or able to work reliably within the Pacific Time Zone.
