About the role

  • Leads enterprise-wide environmental compliance programs and regulatory alignment across the enterprise.\n
  • Oversees hazardous materials management, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) accuracy and hazardous materials classification data.\n
  • Develops and governs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n
  • Oversees hazardous waste disposal vendor performance, problem resolution, and achievement of key performance indicators.\n
  • Directs development of air and water pollution prevention plans, permit acquisition, and monitoring systems.\n
  • Manages regulatory inspections and enforcement actions; Biennial Reporting, Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP), and Tier II submissions.\n
  • Leads proactive compliance strategies in response to emerging federal and state regulations.\n
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration with vendors and legal partners to ensure accuracy and accessibility of regulatory data (SDS) and compliance documentation.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate at least 10 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, preferably within distribution and warehousing environments.\n
  • Expertise in designing and managing regulatory compliance programs for hazardous materials transportation and hazardous waste management.\n
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex topics clearly and succinctly to diverse audiences.\n
  • Advanced organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills; ability to evaluate information, identify key issues, and drive effective resolutions.\n
  • Lead cross-functional teams and independently manage multiple priorities with a collaborative and proactive approach.\n
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with internet, email, and business application programs, and AI technology.\n
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline.\n
  • Certifications CSP, CHMM are preferred.\n
  • Travel up to 30%
