About the role
- Assist the Director of Operations to ensure the pharmacy provides optimal service and meets legal and accreditation/certification requirements
- Maintain daily operation of pharmacy department by supervising pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
- Ensure the pharmacy is adequately staffed during all hours of operation and schedule staff for routine, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours
- Provide technical and customer service training for pharmacy staff and hire/train competent staff
- Review and update drug-therapy guidelines, policies and procedures in conjunction with Director of Operations
- Provide drug information to physicians and nurses through direct contact or in-service programs
- Prepare and maintain reports and records as required by Director of Operations
- Maintain current knowledge of drug therapies and monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness
- Provide patient information and counseling; maintain patient medication records
- Interpret and fill drug orders; compound and prepare I.V. admixtures (if applicable) and dispense prescriptions
- Participate in inventory control programs: ordering, inventorying, monitoring, and work inventory reports to maintain inventory and turns
- Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs as required by law
- Ensure delivery of positive customer service and follow up on customer complaints
- Participate in performance improvement activities and departmental committees
- Conduct initial and annual performance evaluations; promote teamwork; discipline staff when warranted
- Verify departmental timesheets biweekly and report allegations of impropriety to Compliance Department
- Comply with Maxor’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and Compliance Program
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy
- PharmD is preferred
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in Florida
- Three years pharmacy experience
- One-year managerial experience preferred
- Knowledge of best practices in field
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their indications, interactions, and potential side effects
- Skill in the development of drug therapies
- Knowledge of relevant accreditation and certification requirements
- Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision
- Leadership, coaching, and teambuilding skills
- Strategic and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to network and interact with key groups and individuals
- Ability to prioritize projects, conduct research, and gather information
- Consultation and change management skills
- Verbal/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists
- Complete required training and ensure departmental staff training is completed as required
