About the role
- Coordinates and schedules helicopter operations support for a variety of programs including drilling, environmental, exploration, and tour programs. Facilitate the coordination of aircraft activities a focus on safe and efficient operations.
- Aircraft radio operations – acts as a centralized communication point between ground crews and aircrews.
- Ensure that all communication devices are charged and operational.
- Provides specialty aviation activity updates to onsite aircrew (surface, air, blasting warnings and drone operation advisories).
- Host daily toolbox meetings, ensuring good communication and daily field planning is facilitated between aircrew and ground personnel.
- Maintain detailed data records of flight, personnel and cargo movements.
- Work in cooperation with all flight crews on constant basis throughout the operation.
- Assign the aircraft according to the client needs in order to maximize the efficient use of all aircraft.
- Knowledge of passenger and load capacities for a variety of helicopter types will be required.
- Coordinate and monitor logistics of the movement of parts, supplies, materials, and personnel transported via aircraft from staging locations to remote site-based locations.
- Ensure prompt receipt and delivery of equipment to and from contracted Operators.
- Prepare and maintain various reports on the progress of flight activity using manual and computerized systems.
- Complete administrative support functions including creating and distributing daily, weekly and monthly reports at the direction of reporting Manager.
- Audit daily flight records per aircraft to ensure accuracy in operations.
- Daily aircraft fuel tracking and reconciliation by fuel location.
- Track all personnel in remote areas.
- Check-In times to be scheduled with all crews (check-in protocol may vary with projects but must be established).
- To initiate and coordinate a search in the event of an “overdue” aircraft, or other emergency operations.
- Aircraft tracking protocols must be followed per Operator(s) procedures.
- Implement Emergency Protocols – if required.
- Support site Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Initiate medical evacuations as instructed by onsite Incident Command and Medical Care Professionals.
- Under the direction of Matrix Aviation Management, work with onsite Management and Health and Safety supervisor(s) to facilitate and execute “mock Medevac” and other aviation training requirements.
- Advise pertinent personnel of any operational concerns that may impact operation including operational delays, payload restrictions, equipment severability and ground support concerns.
- Exercise and maintain joint responsibility with contracted Operators for operational control in all matters affecting safety of flights.
- Responsibilities may vary according to project requirements.
Requirements
- ROC-A Aviation Radio License (may obtain upon hire)
- Experience working in a flight, travel, or logistics for remote based operation, with preference given to those with experience in mining environment.
- Post-Secondary Diploma in aviation, travel, transportation, business, or supply chain management.
- Demonstrated capability in organization skills and multitasking.
- Strong computing skill; MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
- Experience in record keeping, tracking, planning and scheduling.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with attention to detail.
- Ability to work on a rotation schedule.
- Able to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to work in remote locations, with varying climates.
- Aviation industry experience an asset.
- Mining and Exploration experience focusing on drilling, logistics, and remote operations experience an asset.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods experience.
Benefits
- Location: Project locations vary and will be discussed with qualified candidates.
- Shift rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off OR 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off – length of rotation will be based on project and operation location.
- Shift: Shifts are based on a 12-hr day.
- Season: May – October 2026 (with possible extension).
- Accommodations – accommodations vary depending on project deployment.
- Travel Arrangements – paid travel days. Commercial flights and transportation to site are arranged by employer.
