About the role

  • Represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in a variety of complex civil litigation matters.
  • Work on complex civil litigation teams challenging federal actions that harm the Commonwealth and its residents.
  • Maintain an active caseload, including working actively on litigation strategy, drafting pleadings, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, and trial.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief State Trial Counsel.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant civil litigation experience, which may include judicial clerkships.
  • Knowledge of state and federal civil procedure, and familiarity with federal district court and Massachusetts Superior Court practice is desirable.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced public sector law office and meet deadlines.
