About the role
- Serve as Director of Pro Bono, responsible for strategic development, oversight, and integration of pro bono service
- Provide long-range planning to ensure pro bono engagement supports Maryland Legal Aid’s mission
- Shape organizational policy and foster sustained pro bono partnerships
- Serve as primary pro bono ambassador to law firms, corporate legal departments, bar associations, and partners
- Develop and implement policies related to volunteer engagement and pro bono assistance
- Promote staff engagement with pro bono efforts through mentorship models and training collaborations
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Maryland Bar or eligibility and commitment to obtain admission
- Significant experience working with law firms, corporate legal departments, or pro bono programs
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional relationships across diverse stakeholders
- Strong strategic planning, communication, and leadership skills
- At least seven (7) years of relevant legal or comparable professional experience
