About the role
- Manages the organization’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
- Leads the development and execution of processes that identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with hazardous materials, waste disposal, and industrial operations while minimizing environmental and community impact.
- Provides technical guidance, administrative direction, and clear interpretation of regulations and policies issued by federal, state, and other agencies.
- Oversees regulatory adherence, incident investigations, and employee training initiatives that promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Manage and administer environmental health and safety programs across the organization to ensure adherence to all applicable environmental and occupational safety regulations.
- Develop and implement processes to identify, evaluate, and mitigate environmental and safety risks related to hazardous materials, waste management, and operational activities.
- Review environmental incidents and accident reports to determine root causes and establish corrective and preventive action plans.
- Monitor and interpret changes in environmental and safety laws, regulations, and industry standards; update internal policies, procedures, and practices accordingly.
- Design and deliver training and education programs to increase employee awareness of environmental policies, compliance requirements, and organizational safety standards.
- Partner with operational and departmental leaders to integrate EHS practices into daily workflows, projects, and long-term planning initiatives.
- Prepare compliance reports, maintain required documentation, and support internal and external audits to ensure organizational transparency and accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health and safety, emergency management, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field.
- Eight years of progressive experience in environmental health and safety
- Experience managing EHS programs for multi-site organizations
- 2-3 years of administrative or operational experience
- 2-3 years staff management experience
- Experience developing and managing budgets
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office
- CSP certification preferred
