About the role
- The AGC will be tasked with supporting the European/APAC activities of Mars Science and Diagnostics and will be expected to quickly gain a solid understanding of Mars Science and Diagnostics businesses and operations in Europe.
- Reporting to the Global AGC SDx, he/she will be a critical member of the regional leadership team and counsel our operation and commercial teams as well as local managers with respect to a wide variety of operational and commercial matters.
- In doing so, the AGC will, among other things, advise on all commercial issues related to our equipment and diagnostics laboratories, as well as support all European/APAC expansion efforts.
- The AGC will also negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements and advise on any requirements for respective local operations.
- This attorney will directly manage a team of 3 Associates.
- As part of its role, this attorney will be expected to closely collaborate with other Mars attorneys in the regions where SDx operates, leverage existing Mars best practices, and, to the extent available, seek counsel from Mars outside counsel network to ensure consistency across regions and segments.
- This Associate will also engage with and advise senior leaders, including regional Functional leads and Leadership Teams, when necessary, regarding business-critical legal issues and opportunities.
- This Associate will engage external stakeholders (e.g., regulators and trade groups) as needed to advance and protect Mars’ business interests and will ensure compliance with Mars Policies and standards.
- This Associate will be responsible for engaging and managing outside counsel as appropriate to ensure all business needs are satisfied.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience as a practicing attorney with a focus on compliance, commercial and corporate law matters.
- Candidates should have prior in-house experience, preferably with a healthcare company or within a highly regulated industry.
- International experience a plus.
- Experience developing and successfully providing legal support for territorial growth plans, including assessing regulatory and legal requirements and developing a plan for successful execution.
- Extensive knowledge of different European/APAC commercial laws and regulations
- Excellent written communicator, able to present complex legal issues clearly and concisely, whether extemporaneously via Teams, in emails, or in memoranda and other more formal documents.
- Fluency in one European language in addition to English is a plus
- Capable of defining an agenda and ensuring it gets done on time and efficiently, along the way demonstrating judgment, practicality, resourcefulness, proactivity, and attention to detail.
- Experience in managing complex projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record working as part of an international and cross-functional team to launch new operations, products, and business lines in established and emerging markets internationally.
