About the role
- Be a core member of Marqeta’s in-house team of attorneys and support the negotiation of agreements with Marqeta’s vendors
- Work closely with cross-functional Marqeta internal sales, partnership, product, and operational colleagues to support customer and partnership agreements
- Support Marqeta’s expansion by partnering with cross-functional teams in sales, product, compliance, finance to help sell Marqeta’s products and services
- Work collaboratively across the Legal, Regulatory and Compliance team on cross-functional priorities and initiatives
- Collaborate on the development of agreement templates and playbooks for the Commercial Legal Team to drive scale, cross-functional efficiencies, and offer creative solutions where appropriate
- Provide practical legal advice to the business and develop strong working relationships across the Company with cross-functional peers and other business stakeholders
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in commercial contracts, preferably with experience at both a top law firm and in house
- Industry experience in FinTech, payments, financial services/banking and/or software technology
- Working knowledge of the regulatory landscape in the payments and issuing space in the US
- Experience using AI tools to work more effectively and efficiently
- A keen sense of ownership and the ability to independently drive complex projects to completion on tight timelines in a fast-moving, high-performing environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work on teams and independently; ability to drive accountability and influence outcomes
- The ability to challenge and be challenged both internally and with clients in a constructive and respectful way
- Advanced problem solving skills, i.e., the ability to quickly digest a problem, evaluate various options/solutions and empower yourself and others to deliver
- Highly responsive, customer focused and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- JD degree and member in good standing of a State Bar
