About the role
- Oversee enterprise-wide inventory control and warehouse operations across Transco’s railcar repair facilities in the United States and Canada
- Ensure accurate inventory records and material availability to support repair activities
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements, including cross-border logistics
- Partner closely with Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and site leadership while providing indirect oversight to inventory and warehouse personnel at each location
- Support sourcing decisions for program and third-party repair work
- Manage aging inventory and prepare inventory analysis and reporting for location and corporate leadership
- Lead rollout and ongoing execution of company policies, procedures, and programs related to inventory control, procurement, data management, and reporting
- Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and implement corrective actions when issues are identified
- Provide regular material status updates to ensure KPIs are accurate and up to date
- Support locations with vendor coordination and Accounts Payable to resolve materials and invoicing issues
- Understand and support cross-border logistics, customs documentation, and regulatory requirements related to inventory movement
- Promote safe, organized, and efficient warehouse operations, including layout optimization and 5S practices
- Maintain working knowledge of purchasing and inventory systems
- Engage cross-functional teams to support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, inventory control, materials management, or warehouse operations
- Railcar industry experience required; railcar repair experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience supporting multiple locations using indirect reporting relationships
- Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, including cycle counting and inventory accuracy metrics
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while effectively influencing cross-functional teams
- Ability to travel up to 70% to company locations
