About the role
- Support the organization's financial reporting activities and general accounting functions.
- Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.
- Assist with monthly accounting close, ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, associated analysis and reporting.
- Manage daily financial activities including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury.
- Lead and develop professional accounts payables and accounts receivable support staff.
- Ensure financial operations comply with governmental rules, regulations and internal procedures.
- Evaluate and improve accounting/finance processes to ensure compliance with policies and laws.
- Provide financial analysis and modeling for company ventures, capital projects, and ad-hoc requests.
- Work with internal and external auditors to facilitate satisfactory audits.
- Engage and leverage other departments to accomplish joint projects or goals.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Accounting required or related Bachelors/Masters business degree with substantial accounting experience.
- At least 6+ year accounting/financial reporting experience.
- At least 3+ years of leading finance and accounting professionals, preferable in a manufacturing/railcar repair environment with cost accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel and overall computer skills.
- Experience with Sage Intacct and OneStream a plus.
- Knowledge of intercompany accounting and profit eliminations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with all departments within company.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong work ethic with the flexibility to put in extra hours when needed.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to identify all cost elements within often complex requests for proposals.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple firm deadlines in a busy environment.
- Strong business writing skills are essential.
- Advanced organizational, problem solving, analytical and financial modeling skills required.
- Proven experience at collecting and analyzing financial data to drive business decisions.
- Able to work both independently as an individual contributor and/or with a direct/indirect staff.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing business dynamics.
- Energetic and entrepreneurial approach and a strong attention to detail.
- Able to travel to different company locations (~10%).
