About the role
- Administer and maintain SQL Server databases across production, staging, and development environments.
- Administer and maintain Windows servers, including updates, patching, and system monitoring.
- Monitor server performance, storage, and networking, resolving system-level issues proactively.
- Be available to resolve urgent database or server issues outside of business hours.
- Lead and support database migration projects, including the planned upgrade to SQL Server 2025.
- Implement and manage database backups, disaster recovery plans, and high-availability strategies.
- Monitor traffic, evaluate system health, and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Work with developers to design and optimize schemas, queries, and indexing strategies.

Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working as Database Administrator working with Microsoft SQL Server and experience with Windows Server administration.
- Proven experience with database migrations and upgrades.
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL and database development (stored procedures, triggers, functions).
- Solid knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, backup and restore strategies, and disaster recovery.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with the development team.
- Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell or similar) preferred.
- Must be a strong self-manager with attention to detail.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must live within 75 miles of Sioux Falls, SD.
