About the role
- Responsible for leading and maturing the Enterprise IT Architecture capability at Marathon Petroleum (MPC)
- Owns the enterprise IT architecture operating model
- Ensures consistent and modernized architectural practices and clear decision rights
- Leads both direct and matrixed architects to deliver and execute architecture
- Facilitates target-state designs, current state assessments, and roadmaps to achieve business objectives in alignment with MPC strategy
- Manages staff, sets direction, and deploys resources
- Accountable for business results primarily achieved through the work of others
- Drives recruitment, development, retention, performance management, and succession planning
- Collaborates with stakeholders and senior management to provide strategic guidance on technology risks, opportunities, and prioritization
- Oversees the planning, design, implementation, and measurement of IT systems balancing agility with stability, security, and efficiency
- Sets and drives the enterprise architecture vision and strategy with actionable roadmaps
- Develops and manages a comprehensive Technical Debt reduction/elimination strategy and plan
- Partners effectively with 3rd party service firms in support of the EA agenda
- Leads major transformation initiatives, mergers/acquisitions, and digital innovation programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required
- ITIL®, TOGAF®, Agile, SAFe®, PMI®, Organization Change Management, and Lean Six Sigma certifications preferred
- Twelve (12) or more years of diversified IT experience required
- Five (5) or more years of directly managing professional staff required
- Six (6) or more years of experience in technical IT architect capacity required
- Three (3) or more years of experience leading and managing an Enterprise Architecture function preferred
- Experience with cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and emerging technologies such as generative AI and its applications preferred
- Experience with implementing and utilizing Enterprise Architecture tools, graphical modeling approaches, and repository management preferred
- Experience in the industrial, manufacturing, or oil and gas industry preferred.
