About the role
- Apply MANTIS methodology in facility (roof, walls, pavement, and energy) inspection process for Facility Management Solutions projects
- Provide quality assurance observation on roofing projects as primary duty
- Conduct roof surveys, pavement surveys, and building envelope surveys as needed
- Act as liaison between the Owner/Architect and the Roofing Contractor
- Read, understand, and familiarize with related contract and specifications
- Inspect materials, confirm correct storage methods, and confirm correct installation methods
- Report accurate project progress, adherence to change orders, and advise in troubleshooting situations
- Confirm deck condition during removal and ensure deck repairs are completed per contract
- Ensure the roof system is watertight nightly and contractor installs undamaged and specified materials
- Monitor punch work and inspect final product with manufacturer's representative to address warranty punch items
- Wear required PPE and participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and daily safety briefings
- Stop work and report unsafe conditions or behavior; report all incidents including near misses
- Handle hazardous materials as directed by Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and adhere to MANTIS safety standards
- Enter time into system daily, complete expense reports with backup, respond to emails/voicemails timely, and upload data daily
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years commercial roofing experience
- Strong knowledge of the commercial roofing industry
- Willingness to become RRO certified through IIBEC
- Technically competent with field data collection tools (iPad/Tablet)
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and submittals
- Proficient use of laptop and MS Office software
- Ability to write detailed observation reports including photographic documentation
- Experience in performing infrared and capacitance moisture surveys
- Valid driver’s license with minimal driving offences over the last five years
- Ability to perform minor maintenance work including restoration mortar and re-grouting tile
- Physically able to climb scaffolding/ladders on a daily basis
- Ability to communicate clearly with design teams, project owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and subcontractors
- Ability to travel up to 70-80% (via vehicle, airplane, etc.)
- Live in/near Washington, DC or within one hour driving distance to the beltway
- (Preferred) IIBEC Certification: Registered Roof Observer (RRO) and/or Registered Roof Consultant (RRC)
- (Preferred) Roofing Technology Certificate
- (Preferred) Bilingual English/Spanish
- (Preferred) BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- (Preferred) Basic Pavement Technology Acknowledgements
