About the role
- Apply MANTIS methodology in facility (roof, walls, pavement, and energy) inspection process for Facility Management Solutions projects
- Provide Quality Assurance Observation on roofing projects (primary duty) including acting as liaison between Owner/Architect and Roofing Contractor
- Conduct roof surveys, pavement surveys, and building envelope surveys as needed
- Read and confirm compliance with contract documents, specifications, and change orders
- Inspect materials storage and verify correct installation methods; confirm nightly watertightness and material condition during installation
- Oversee troubleshooting, monitor punch work, and inspect final product with manufacturer representatives for warranty items
- Confirm deck condition as systems are removed and ensure necessary deck repairs are completed per contract
- Perform safety duties: wear PPE, participate/lead job hazard analysis (JHA) and daily safety briefings, stop work for unsafe conditions, report incidents and handle hazardous materials per SDS
- Administrative duties: enter time daily, complete expense reports with backup, respond to emails/voicemails timely, upload data daily
- Perform minor maintenance work when required and lift up to 50 pounds; work outdoors in all weather and potentially extended hours
- Travel frequently for site work (up to 70-80%) and coordinate with clients and project teams
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years commercial roofing experience
- Technically competent with field data collection tools (iPad/Tablet)
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and submittals
- Proficient use of laptop and MS Office software
- Ability to write detailed observation reports including photographic documentation
- Experience in performing infrared and capacitance moisture surveys
- Valid driver’s license with minimal driving offences over the last five years
- Ability to perform minor maintenance work including restoration mortar and re-grouting tile
- Physically able to climb scaffolding/ladders on a daily basis
- Ability to communicate clearly with design teams, project owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and related subcontractors
- Live in/near Washington, DC or within one hour driving distance to the beltway
- Willing to become RRO certified through IIBEC
- Ability to travel up to 70-80% (via vehicle, airplane, etc.)
