About the role
- Ensure adequate representation of Purchasing with its strategy and targets in cross-functional project teams.
- Ensure that selection of suppliers is aligned with the material group management enabling the best use of know-how, innovations, and cost optimization potentials coming from supplier base.
- Apply MANN+HUMMEL purchasing methods, processes, and tools for standardized and efficient processes.
- Coordinate project specific sourcing activities with cross-functional project team members, Commodity Buyers, Lead Buyers, ASQ and MGM.
- Ensure the project related material cost targets are met.
- Monitor project timing and achieve xSEP milestones or WF deadlines.
- Ensure quality of components.
- Communicate project related internal and cross-functional information, specifically with R&D and Project Management.
- Coordinate releases and launches of material, parts, and tools during the project phases with ASQ and R&D.
- Prepare and maintain project related documentation such as the project purchasing data sheet (IPPDS), project tacking tool, and other necessary documentation in CIM database, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
- Manage all mandatory xSEP documents, including Risk Assessment Sheet for Purchased Part, Overview Supplier APQP Status Report (with support of ASQ and Commodity Buyer/Lead Buyer), as well as all mandatory documents required by group purchasing guidelines, e.g. Sourcing Decision Sheet.
- Provide purchasing input to the project core team and for other project key documents such as Risk Analysis and Feasibility.
- Ensure and supervise project timing including all necessary xSEP work packages, APQP, pre-production / “0”-series, performance test, IMDS data, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in International Business or closely related field
- 2 years’ experience as a Purchasing Buyer, Project Buyer, Project Management, or closely related occupation, in an international industrial or manufacturing enterprise
- 2 years of experience with MANN+HUMMEL specific xSEP, Material Data Governance (MDG), and Quality Management System (MMS)
- 2 years experience negotiating the price of new products in the automotive industry, specifically relating to aluminum casting or battery venting units, and with the procurement process for these parts
- 2 years of experience with organizational requirements in aspects of Quality (ISO/TS 16949), Environmental, (ISO 14000)/ MMS and Security + IATF certification, SAP systems, and APQP
- Requires the ability to take non-business hour meetings
- Up to 10% travel required to local supply base within 100 miles of Portage, Michigan.
