About the role
- Advise high-net-worth and institutional clients with tailored, discretionary investment strategies aligned to their financial goals
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive communication, regular portfolio reviews, and exceptional service
- Act as a trusted advisor by addressing client concerns, sharing market insights, and collaborating with their broader financial team (e.g. tax, estate, legal)
- Conduct in-depth assessments of client objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon, and preferences to inform portfolio construction
- Monitor, rebalance, and review portfolios to ensure ongoing alignment with client needs and market conditions
- Develop and execute business development strategies to identify and convert new opportunities across HNW and institutional segments
- Cultivate a strong referral network through partnerships with legal professionals, accountants, and investment consultants
- Collaborate with internal teams—including portfolio construction, compliance, and operations—to ensure seamless execution and high-quality support
- Stay current on global markets, economic trends, and regulatory developments to inform client strategy and firm-wide insights
- Uphold the highest ethical standards, maintaining full regulatory compliance and acting in the best interest of each client.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of experience in investment counselling, institutional relationship management, or discretionary portfolio management
- CFA charter holder and/or CIM designation required
- Current registration as an Advising Representative in good standing with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) or another provincial securities regulator
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian investment landscape, capital markets, and regulatory environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to gain the trust of sophisticated investors
- Demonstrated success in business development and growing assets under management
- Proficiency in financial analysis and synthesizing investment strategies
- Professional presence with strong presentation and client-facing capabilities
- A collaborative team player and independent self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
