About the role
- With clear guidance identify and acquire project data.
- Build datasets from secondary sources and/or primary research for project-specific modeling including cleaning, restructuring and validating data.
- Primary research projects include instrument design, survey QC and testing, as well as analysis and reporting.
- Conduct prescribed analysis accurately.
- Identify potentially meaningful findings and significant insights from analysis.
- Fill data holes as needed to support conclusions.
- Prepare simple charts, graphs and supporting report materials for assigned project areas, write key findings.
- Summarize findings clearly and contribute to internal discussions.
- Identify ways to work more efficiently.
- Abide by firm operating procedures and client policy requirements including pharmacovigilance.
- Research Associates must work both independently and as part of a project team to deliver high quality, error-free work in an efficient manner; report to Consultants, Managing Consultants and/or Executives during the course of an engagement; and work simultaneously on multiple client engagements, demonstrating solid project management skills.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, economics, mathematics, engineering, operations research, health informatics or related quantitative field from an elite institution, including Ivy League institutions, with a strong academic record.
- Relevant work experience as a teaching or research assistant while pursuing an advanced degree or during summer internships is preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical skills—understands the advantages and limits of different analytical approaches and studies and their findings including regression, significance testing, clustering algorithms and modeling techniques.
- Strong analytic and quantitative reasoning and enjoy problem solving.
- Exposure to healthcare, econometric or statistical large scale data set management and analytics in classroom or internship setting.
- Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills. They must be able to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing, work well on teams demonstrating leadership qualities, and handle multiple commitments and frequent deadlines.
- Capable of collaborating with client teams members from varied functional areas including market research, business analytics, marketing and market science.
- Familiarity with healthcare industry stakeholders, issues and events preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for applying innovative analytics to solve real-world business problems.
- Proficiency in MS Office products required, experience developing Excel-based spreadsheets with macros and visual basic.
- Experience with statistical packages is highly desired, e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, or STATA.
- Exposure to Big Data and Business Intelligence tools e.g., SQL, Vertica, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Tableau; with fundamental understanding of data management principles and programming experience.
