About the role

  • Conduct primary research for technical reports and industry articles, build market sizing and technoeconomic models, and develop new technology assessment frameworks.
  • Directly speak to and advise Lux’s clients on technology insights, competitive landscape insights, market trends, technical due diligence, market opportunity, and cost competitiveness.
  • Lead and manage client deliverables and interactions.
  • Produce and manage written reports.
  • Conduct, edit and quality control written research reports, market models, and technology frameworks, including creative visual depictions of data and ideas.
  • Advice on consulting engagements spanning go-to-market strategy, product road mapping.
  • Develop a credible future looking perspective of innovation in the Energy Sciences.
  • Project management and working closely with a team of expert research members to develop and test research hypotheses and prepare findings for clients.
  • Ability to work with a geographically diverse team and willing to manage and mentor associates and analysts.
  • Travel globally for client visits and speaking at Lux events.
  • Represent Lux Research as a speaker at external conferences and events.
  • Understand client business needs to develop and deliver high-value research around innovation.
  • Develop a network of contacts and relationships among business and scientific leaders in emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry, and experience in low-carbon technologies like CCUS, hydrogen, alternative fuels, and carbon credits.
  • Has broad knowledge on the energy transition, industrial decarbonization, and relevant policy in the U.S., EU, and Asia.
  • Minimum requirement of Bachelor's degree but preferably advanced degrees (MSc and/or MEng) in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or something similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing original and analytical research with business and technical proficiency.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about sustainable innovation, emerging technologies, and technology integration, and the ability to surface, develop, and communicate clear ideas.
  • Excellent office software skills (expertise in Excel required).
  • Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative.
