About the role
- Design and deliver intuitive, engaging web, mobile, and public API experiences at scale for LoadUp's platform.
- Create prototypes and high-fidelity mocks that translate product requirements into implementable interfaces.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to shape product features and execution.
- Drive and maintain the design system, documentation, and design standards across platforms.
- Mentor and guide other designers; lead design critiques and evangelize best practices.
- Provide design sign-off and ensure implementation consistency across engineering deliverables.
- Contribute to agile team processes and sprint rituals; adapt to changing requirements.
- Balance visionary designs with practical business constraints to support scalable platform growth.
Requirements
- 8+ years designing and developing interfaces for web and mobile applications, with a strong foundation in visual design and interaction principles.
- 4+ years leading end-to-end UI/UX design projects, including mentoring and guiding team members on best practices.
- Hands-on experience collaborating with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into effective, feasible designs.
- Proven track record driving design system strategy — creating, maintaining, documenting, and evangelizing design standards across platforms.
- Experience ensuring design consistency through design sign-off of engineering deliverables.
- Background working in agile product teams, comfortable with changing requirements and contributing to sprint rituals.
- Strong design fundamentals with a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Advanced Figma skills, with the ability to maintain organized design files and create robust design systems.
- Proficiency in building wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to demonstrate user flows and interactions.
- Sharp attention to detail and auditing skills to identify and resolve inconsistencies across platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present concepts, lead design critiques, and influence stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring designers and driving team adoption of design principles and patterns.
- Proficiency with Figma, Miro, JIRA, and Confluence; familiarity with developer tools (e.g., GitHub).
- Comfortable designing across web (React + Rails views), mobile (Turbo Native and React Native), public-facing pages, and third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe, Twilio, Kustomer, SendGrid).
- Familiarity with technologies listed: Stimulus, React, TypeScript, Turbo, Tailwind, Capybara, Jest, Ruby, Rails, Node, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq Pro, RSpec, GraphQL, React Native, Turbo Native, Github, Heroku, AWS, AppSignal.
