About the role
- Fliff unpacks sports gaming into social, free-to-play games for sports fans, offering sweepstakes promotions and loyalty rewards.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, providing regular feedback and support in their development.
- Stay hands-on by contributing to the codebase (at least 30–40%) and setting quality standards.
- Guide architecture decisions and ensure frontend codebases are scalable, testable, and well-documented.
- Break down complex, real-time data challenges into manageable parts and deliver performant solutions.
- Ensure accuracy in data, UI responsiveness, and code quality to avoid costly mistakes in real-time applications.
- Partner with product and design to scope, prioritize, and deliver features that delight users.
- Own delivery timelines and resource planning to ensure smooth execution across sprints.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, and performance management for your team.
Requirements
- 6+ years of frontend engineering experience with a focus on React Native and TypeScript 5.0+.
- 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers or leading technical teams.
- Strong command of React fundamentals: functional components, hooks, context, and advanced patterns.
- Deep understanding of state management tools like Redux (with middleware like Thunk/Saga) and Context API.
- Experience with performance optimization, code splitting, lazy loading, and responsive UI design.
- Ability to work with backend APIs (REST and WebSocket) and integrate data into complex UIs.
- Comfortable with debugging tools and testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).
- Heavy usage of analytic tools (DataDog, MixPanel, Google Analytics, etc).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Prior experience working in a high-growth startup, gaming, or real-time application environment preferred.
- Nice to Have: Experience leading frontend initiatives in the sports betting or gaming industry.
- Nice to Have: Familiarity with infrastructure (AWS), CI/CD, and best practices for environment pipelines.
- Nice to Have: Prior experience driving team-level OKRs or delivery metrics.
