About the role
- Lead a cross-functional team of software engineers, ensuring clarity in goals, timelines, and ownership.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, career growth plans, and performance feedback.
- Own delivery — ensuring projects are shipped on time with high quality and measurable impact.
- Establish and refine team processes for sprint planning, documentation, and release cycles.
- Partner with recruiting to attract and onboard top engineering talent.
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives for improving developer experience, testing, and reliability.
- Maintain source-of-truth plans (roadmaps, milestones, burn-down, critical paths), enforce SLAs, and run tight daily standups with crisp blockers and next steps.
- Proactively track every task to closure; escalate risks before they become delays; coordinate recovery plans and surge capacity when needed.
- Ensure engineering is consistently available to Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Leadership; triage inbound requests with clear priorities and ETAs.
- Lead retrospectives with action items, tighten feedback loops, and remove systemic blockers to ship faster with fewer defects.
Requirements
- 5+ years managing software teams (people + projects) in remote, globally distributed environments.
- Proven track record of leading high-performing teams in fast-paced, product-driven environments.
- Strong technical judgment; comfortable reviewing PRs at a high level, scoping tickets, and challenging estimates.
- Understanding of scalable architectures, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Excellent communication skills — able to provide clarity, context, and motivation across remote teams.
- Experience balancing velocity and quality, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Comfortable working in startup environments with high autonomy and shifting priorities.
