About the role
- Analyze workflows, conduct time studies, and apply industrial engineering methodologies to improve throughput and reduce waste.
- Implement Lean and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Design, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment for stick electrode production.
- Develop and recommend equipment specifications, performance requirements, and cost analyses for new machinery and tooling.
- Provide direct technical support on the shop floor, including root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and equipment issues.
- Lead trials, pilot projects, and process validations to ensure successful implementation of improvements.
- Monitor and evaluate production parameters such as scrap rates, downtime, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Utilize statistical tools and process control methods to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure alignment on safety, quality, and cost objectives.
- Author and maintain operational work instructions and process documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Mechanical Engineering experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
- Proven ability to apply practical process knowledge with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, installations, and testing.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
- Proficiency in mechanical design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and understanding of automation/robotics integration.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data for process improvement.
- Willingness to work off-shifts periodically to support production trials.
