About the role

  • Design, build, and own a modern, scalable, resilient, and governable data ecosystem from the ground up
  • Define the vision and execute the roadmap for the company-wide data platform (reporting to the CTO)
  • Architect data platform leveraging Snowflake and dbt and build a reporting layer for business intelligence
  • Champion data literacy across the organization and promote self-service analytics
  • Work with stakeholders across marketing, sales, and executive leadership to embed data into decision-making
  • Recruit, build, mentor, and lead a distributed, hybrid data team of full-time staff and contractors
  • Define and enforce data governance policies, establish single source of truth and clear lineage
  • Implement proactive data quality monitoring and tools to ensure data integrity and trust
  • Design the platform with a security-first mindset, implementing RBAC and best practices for sensitive data
  • Oversee integration and activation of data (including reverse ETL) to ensure the warehouse drives business outcomes

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in a data leadership role
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with the Snowflake cloud data platform
  • Proven track record with dbt for data transformation and modeling
  • Experience with data quality tools like Metaplane and business intelligence platforms (major plus)
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and data modeling (dimensional, star schema)
  • Proficiency with scripting languages like Python
  • Understanding of ELT vs. ETL and experience with modern data integration and orchestration tools
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into actionable data requirements
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to articulate to technical and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated experience leading distributed teams and managing a hybrid staffing model of full-time employees and contractors
  • Experience designing secure systems including RBAC, PII handling, and data obfuscation
