About the role
- Oversee the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure SMS compliance with EASA Part-145 and GCAA CAR 145 (and other Authorities) requirements and alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage the reporting, investigation, and resolution of safety occurrences, including accidents, incidents, near-misses, and hazards.
- Lead the development and execution of the Continuous Improvement Plan to enhance organizational safety practices.
- Review safety performance data and processes regularly to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure timely submission of all safety-related reports and records to regulatory authorities (EASA, GCAA and others).
- Monitor compliance with all applicable safety regulations, including incident reporting, risk management, and performance monitoring.
- Prepare Safety Occurrence Reports, Near-Miss Reports, Audit Reports, and Safety Performance Reports.
- Oversee the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address identified safety issues and non-conformities.
- Track and ensure timely completion of corrective actions. Verify the effectiveness of implemented actions and prevent recurrence of incidents.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal and external safety audits and inspections. Prepare audit reports, identify non-conformities, and oversee corrective action implementation.
- Oversee the design and delivery of safety-related training programs to ensure employees are knowledgeable and compliant with regulations.
- Establish and track key safety performance indicators (KPIs), including incident rates, audit findings, and near-miss reporting. Prepare and present Safety Performance Reports to senior management, highlighting trends and improvement actions.
- Lead and mentor the Quality Assurance team to achieve departmental and organizational safety and quality objectives. Collaborate with department heads, supervisors, and stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation of safety management processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance and safety management within the aeronautical industry.
- Proven experience in developing and managing Safety Management Systems (SMS) in compliance with EASA Part-145 and GCAA CAR 145 regulations.
- Certification in ISO 9001, EN9110 or ISO 45001 is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of EASA, GCAA, and ISO 9001 standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong experience of root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action management (CAPA), and safety reporting.
- Experience in planning, conducting, and managing safety audits, inspections, and reporting processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership abilities, capable of guiding teams and fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with staff at all levels.
