About the role
- Manage staff, develop products, nurture broker/agent relationships, and generate profitable new and renewal financial lines business
- Serve as a leading technical authority within Financial Institutions in the Eastern Region and act as a "go-to" advisor to colleagues and senior underwriting leaders
- Drive a culture of underwriting excellence across Financial Institutions D&O, EPLI, and Fiduciary lines of business
- Drive change initiatives within the team and act as a point of escalation for novel underwriting decisions
- Maintain external profile and relationships with brokers/agents, partners and stakeholders to help team achieve goals
- Underwrite specific policies and deliver the work of an Underwriter; accountable for portfolio performance within a sub-segment of business
Requirements
- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
- 10 years expected, typically 15 years or more, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related business experience
- Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility and across product line/territory
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external partners
- Must demonstrate comprehension of most complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues
- Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
